Training cum work shop on sanitation under way

SHILLONG, June 16: A five days Training cum Workshop on Total Led Sanitation Campaign (TLSC) led by Field Work Foundation, Gurgaon, Harya kick started on Monday at the Multipurpose Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in South West Khasi Hills Distric.
The training which is being organized by the District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM), West Khasi Hills along with the World Bank–WSP & Feedback Foundation was formally iugurated by Extra Assistant Commissioner S Ch Momin.
Ajay Sinha, resource person from Field Work Foundation, a master trainer of this five days workshop was accompanied by Birendra Shankar and Venkatesh from the World Bank.
The training programme was attended by EACs, BDOs of Mawkyrwat and Ranikor C&RD Block, head of various departments, gram sevaks and other government officials.
Speaking on the occasion Sinha informed that the objective of holding the workshop was to spread the message about open defecation free tion which is the objective of Swacch Bharat Mission.
He added that the workshop will develop skills to trigger collective local action through field experience, it will also generate enthusiasm to eradicate open defecation in rural areas which is a mece causing various diseases to local inmates.
