Training for polling personnel in Chirang held

KOKRAJHAR, March 21: The first phase of training for polling personnel got under way at Dhaligaon High School and Kajalgaon High School.

Attending the training programmes, the Chirang Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Rupak Kr. Mazumdar said that the training was necessary to acquaint the polling personnel with the guidelines of ECI. He briefed them about their role and responsibilities and also gave tips to be kept in mind while discharging their duties at the time of polling. He asked the presiding officers to be careful in data entry in prescribed format and not make haste in their work that may badly affect the long-drawn exercise. He also briefed the procedures to use the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and functioning and about the NOTA option. He requested the polling personnel to keep in touch on the day of poll with their Zol and Sector officers concerned.

Earlier, the iugural speech was delivered by the Assistant Commissioner Jitu Kr. Barman. In the first phase of training, altogether 622 polling personnel, both presiding and first polling officers were trained by the appointed Master Trainers.

Sources said the election training for the presiding and first polling officers got under way from Sunday at Kajalgaon High School and Dhaligaon High School. Altogether 1,224 government employees were appointed as presiding officers, first polling officers, second polling officers and third polling officers for conduct of smooth election in 31 Sidli (ST) LAC. At present,  308 Ballot Units and 300 Control Units are available in the district against the total 245 polling stations.
