Training for VDMCs on disaster magement

Ampati, April 19: The District Disaster Magement Authority (DDMA), South West Garo Hills, conducted a day-long training programme for the village Disaster Magement Committees (VDMCs) and Village Employment Councils (VECs) on Disaster Magement Plan Updation at Zikzak on Tuesday. The training was attended by one member each from all the villages and VECs under Zikzak C&RD block. The training was based on the guidelines under Disaster Magement Act, 2005 for taking necessary measures for prevention of disasters, mitigation, preparedness and capacity building of the communities to respond promptly and effectively to any disaster or tural calamities. The participants were also given insights on providing first aid to the victims and on carrying out rescue, rehabilitation and reconstruction during disasters.
