Training imparted to SC women on water hyacinth, jute products manufacture

MANGALDAI, Nov 21: Twenty-five selected women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community of Darrang district took part in the 25-day long training programme on Water Hyacinth and Jute products (bag manufacturing) organized in the office of the District Industries and Commerce Center (DICC) here.

Mission for Actualizing Rural and Urban Growth (MARG) - a State-level  premier non-government organization working on the subject based in gaon district in collaboration with the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Assam took the initiative to organize the training programme at Mangaldai from October 28 to November 21. Women participants from Mangaldai, Sipajhar and Dhula area of the district were imparted training on manufacturing of bags, flower stand, pen stand, tray, vanity bags, traditiol orments and other household and decorative products using water hyacinth and jute.

Taking part in the closing function organized in the office of the DICC at Mangaldai on Saturday, General Mager of DICC Pankaj Goswami, Lead District Mager Golok Chandra Barua, president of Darrang District Small Scale Industries Association, Pankaj Sarma, media person Bhargab Kumar Das, president of MARG Achinta Kumar Sarma, secretary Prasanta Kumar Borkakati and Program Coorditor of Marg, Gu Kanta Sarma appreciated the spirit and interest of the participants for joining the training programme for the first time in the district.

Sharing their experience all the participants expressed their satisfaction and pleasure to take part in the training program and also disclosed that they had earned encouragement and inspiration to take up the manufacturing of items from water hyacinth and jute. All the participants were also offered certificate of participation.
