Training on disaster magement concludes

KOKRAJHAR, Nov 7: The first phase of the four-day long colorful programme of the District-level Residential Training on school Disaster Magement concluded at Prasanti Lodge conference hall in Kokrajhar. The programme was organized by the SSA, Kokrajhar in collaboration with UNICEF, Assam, Red Cross India, Assam state branch and DDMA Kokrajhar. SSA has been providing training to schools teachers and students to deal with tural calamities. The programme was iugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Niranjan Baruah, DEEO-cum-DMC SN Goyary and SSA officers participated in the programme.

The district programme officer, Gu Hazarika was the overall in-charge of the programme. In this programme, the UNICEF and Red Cross India arranged resource persons. The four-day residential programme saw participants from CRCCs of Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora block and a total of 45 teachers participated in the programme.

Biju Basumatary, programme officer, SSA, Chirang district, spoke about his experiences on disaster-related issues and role and responsibilities of CRCCs during the time of disaster. Gura Hazarika, DPO, SSA Kokrajhar, said that the second and third phases would be held on November 27 to November 28 and December 4 to December 7 for left-out blocks, this is Kachugaon, Dotma and Kokrajhar. The teacher participated in a mock drill programme at Rupth Brahma Lower Primary School.
