Training on disaster magement held

SHILLONG, June 30: The  office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi  hills district  in collaboration  with  the Meghalaya Administrative  Training  Institute (MATI) Shillong organized  a two-day programme for field workers on basic disaster  magement concept and on cyclone mitigation  on June 29 and 30 at Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mawkyrwat.

The resource persons were P Marbaniang, Retd. DDIPR, M Langstieh, faculty member, MATI, A Sangma, Senior Lecturer, Shillong Polytechnic and DL. Kharkongor, ADPO, Mawkyrwat.

The topics covered during the two day programme includes concept of disaster magement, Disaster Magement  Act 2005, ethics of disaster magement, roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in disaster magement, dos and don’ts for  various hazards, nitigation measures for cyclones, etc.
