Training on Eri cocoon spinning at Boko

Boko, October 29: A training programme on spinning of Eri cocoon was iugurated at Boko, Kamrup by Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IAAST), Guwahati as a part of the Eri development project for rural empowerment of SC/ST. Chandan Keshab, proprietor of Guladasta and Anil Das of Boko will train the participants. Activities like boiling the cocoon to spinning will be covered during the training period. The iugural meeting was chaired by Dr. lin Mohan, Chief Scientist (retired), Horticultural Research Centre (AAU). Dr Dipali Devi, PI of the project initiated the proceeding of the programme by rrating the aim and objectives of the training. Dr SN Choudhury, former scientist of NEIST explained about Eri spinning and also demonstrated the same to participants of the training programme. Chandan Keshab explained how they could increase their production.
