Training programme for women launched in Silchar

Silchar, Dec 4: A 25-day skill development training programme for scheduled caste (SC) women was launched in District Industries Centre of Cachar (DICC) on Thursday. The Government of Assam sponsored programme is being organized by mission for actualizing rural growth (MARG) under DICC. G Das, general mager of DICC, and Ratan Luwangcha, secretary of Indian Jourlists Union, were the chief-guest and guest of honour respectively for the iugural function. 25 women from Irongmara and nearby villages belonging to SC community will be trained in bag manufacturing using water hyacinth and jute products. Speaking on the occasion, Gu Kanta Sharma, coorditor of MARG gaon, said that the aim of the training programme is to train the women so that they can become self-employed and work in the field as independent entrepreneurs. The programme will conclude on December 28. Others present on the occasion included Achita Kumar Sharma, master trainer, and Uttam Bishesh, trainer, MARG gaon, who will also conduct training to the 25 women.
