Training programme on adoption of organic farming

Itagar, Jan 27: To promote and encourage adoption of organic farming among farmers, department of Agriculture, West Kameng district conducted a five-day training and field demonstration on organic farming at different circles of the district.  The training was imparted at Dirang, Thembang, fra, Thungri, and Kalaktang under BADP 2015-2016. The activities were in line with the vision of deputy commissioner and district agriculture officer, West Kameng to make the district an organic district in the state.  DAO, Bomdila L Zimba, described the importance of organic farming for sustaible cultivation and the negative impact of inorganic cultivation. He also appealed the trainees to follow the motto ‘cultivate healthy, eat healthy and feed healthy by adopting organic farming’.  Resource person PC KVK, Dirang, Dr N D Singh demonstrated vermicompose production and elaborated scientific soil health magement.  PDM of Camson Biotehnologies Limited, Tushar Ghosh, trained on certified organic inputs to replace chemicals. ADOs of respective circles trained the farmers on various aspects of certified organic farming.  ADC D Riba, ZPM Thembang Jam Tsering, and ASM, fra Leki Dungru attended the training in their respective circles to motivate the farmers to adopt organic farming.  DC West Kameng persolly attended the training session at Thongri and Kalaktang along with ex- minister D K Thongdok and PRI members.  All farmers were provided sprayer, organic fertilizers, pest control products, gloves, seeds, crate as supporting material for organic farming, an official release said here today.
