Training programme on human rights held

Haflong, Oct 27: With the aim of creating awareness among the government officials, college professors, police (Battalion), district police, students’ unions and NGOs about human rights, the Dima Hasao district administration organized a one-day basic training programme on human rights at Haflong Government College on Friday.

 The programme was attended by N K Borah as the chief guest while H B Chetri, Deputy Chairman, NC Hills Autonomous Council, Principal of Haflong Government College, Dr M Rahman, Prashanta Dutta, Additiol Superintendent of Police, Haflong, member of Foreigner’s Tribul and other guests of honour were felicitated with phulam gamosa.

Dr. Rakhioni Gogoi, Associate Professor, Haflong Government College, H. Riame, Joint Secretary, NC Hills Autonomous Council, Annie Lienthang, Advocate, Judicial Court, Haflong were the resource persons of the workshop. The president of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao in his speech  appealed to the people of Dima Hasao to avail the opportunity provided by the law in human rights violation. He also appealed to the NGOs and students’ union to create awareness about human rights. Chief guest NK Borah in his speech highlighted the pros and cons of human rights and also the means and ways to take steps in case of human rights violation.
