Tree plantation in Tripura along 500 km road

Agartala, July 4:  With a clarion call to protect the earth and to launch a drive against pollution the state level Van Mahotsav was observed at Dharmagar.

 Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar stressed the need for planting more trees to protect the ture and talking about his government’s initiative he said trees had been planted along 500 km of roads in the state and this initiative would continue. He also urged to plant trees along the railway lines.

He lambasted President Dold Trump for America’s decision to come out of the Paris Agreement on environment. “America is vastly responsible for degradation of our atmosphere and now they are trying to shed their responsibility,” Sarkar added.

The Forest Minister resh Jamatia said: “when the state is trying to develop forest in the state; practice of large scale deforestation is still on and accused those responsible in destroying the ture. He urged the forest officials to take appropriate action against such crimes.”
