Trekking expedition organized to create awareness on ture conservation

Dibrugarh, Nov 22: To create awareness about conservation of ture among students, the ture Club and Deen Dayal Upadhay Kaushal Kendra of Tengakhat College in Dibrugarh district organized a 35-km long trek from the college campus to Dighalibeel wetland, Sasoni recently.
All total 20 students from Bachelor degree of vocation course of UGC-DDU Kaushal Kendra, Tengakhat College took part in the trek with zeal  by raising the slogan ‘Know Our ture: Protect Biodiversity’. It started with welcome address by coorditor of DDU Kaushal Kendra and leader of the trekking team, Radheesh Gopalan.
The expedition team passed through Tengakhat, khangia and crossed the river by boat at Bamunighat and entered Mothawani of Sasoni. After a brief interaction with the villagers of Mothawani, the team entered Dighalibeel via khatia Sonowal village. In Dighalibeel they observed the present condition of the beel and safety measure issues related to the biodiversity conservation of wetland with local fishermen, who in fact depend on the wetland for their livelihood. Later, the team leader Radheesh Gopalan in his concluding deliberation stated that DDU-Kushal Kendra would continue to promote environmental education as a part of its social contribution activities by organizing programmes like ture study camp, river expeditions and bio-diversity trekking programmes
