Tremors spark panic in Dhubri

DHUBRI, June 28: A “moderate intensity” earthquake, that rocked Dhubri today at 6.36 am, triggered panic among the people here. Windowpanes and doors rattled because of the tremor which lasted for 15 to 20 seconds. While no casualty was reported, some buildings were said to have developed cracks. There was utter chaos in the Dhubri area following the earthquake. Dhubri Deputy Commissioner (DC) zrul Islam said no news of any major damage in the earthquake has been reported so far. The Disaster Magement Department has been alerted, he said.
