Tribal students stage protest demanding security of NE students

Lakhimpur, Jan 8: Following the murder of Angshuman Padun in Delhi on December 31 last, the regiol committee of All Assam Tribal Students ’ Union staged protest here on Wednesday demanding security of the northeastern students living in others parts of the country.

They took out a protest rally and shouted slogans against the rendra Modi led BJP government at the Centre and Tarun Gogoi led congress government in the state to ensure security of the students of Assam and other northeastern states in other parts of the country. They claimed that the students of northeastern region are frequent victims of molestation, mental and physical torture in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and other states that provide higher educatiol facilities.

They burnt effigies of Prime Minister rendra Modi, HRD minister Smriti Irani, union minister Kiren Rijiju, Sarbanda Sonowal and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for their alleged failure to ensure security of the Northeast students. They further demanded the Delhi police for quick and proper investigation of the murder of Angshuman.
