Tribute paid to AASU activist Girish Ch Bhattacharjya

TANGLA, Oct 9: The historic Assam Movement was a struggle with an objective. The clauses of the Assam Accord have not been implemented till date and the leaders of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) are still playing a torchbearer’s role to implement it. This was the observation made by former AASU activist and senior jourlist of Darrang, Bhargab Kr. Das at a special tribute programme of Girish Chandra Bhattacharjya in the premises of Swahid Bhavan of Tangla on Sunday.
Das observed that the years of struggle of the indigenous sons of the soil had not borne fruit till date. Das exhorted the Assamese youth to build a distinctive work culture.  The memorial lecture, presided over by former president of Darrang Students’ Union Tilak Prasad Baruah, was also addressed by AASU president Dipanka Kumar th,  Hiren Kr.Sahariah, Premeswar Sarma, Ramanikanta Sarma, and Dr. Paramanda Rajbongshi, general secretary, Axam Xahitya Xabha, who recalled the sacrifice and ideals of Girish Chandra Bhattacharjya and exhorted the young generation to follow his footsteps.
