Tribute paid to eminent businessman and BJP leader Pradip Das

MANGALDAI, February 19: A large numbers of admirers, well-wishers and relatives on Sunday offered their heartfelt tribute in memory of eminent businessman and president of Mangaldai Chambers of Commerce, Pradip Das at a well-organized memorial function at his residence at Bishnu gar, Baruapara.

 Mangaldai legislator Guru Jyoti Das, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman, Prachar Pramukh for NE region of Rashtriya Swayangsevak Sangha (RSS) Shankar Das, spokesperson of state BJP-cum-lawyer Bijon Mahajan, Yuva Pracharak of RSS Ranjiv Sarma, former legislator, writer and jourlist Dr. gendra th Sarma, and president of Darrang district BJP, Nilima Devi took part in the homage-paying function and offered floral tribute in memory of Pradip Kumar Das.

Chief Area Mager of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Sourav Chaliha, Chief Mager (Sales) of IOC, Niren Bhattacharya, senior mager of IOC, Pankaj Bhattacharya and Deputy Mager (Sales) of IOC, Satya Kam Sarma also attended the function and offered their homage to Pradip Das who was the pioneer distributor of LPG in undivided Darrang district since 1982. In recognition of the extraordiry service, the IOC in 2006 awarded Pradip Kumar Das as ‘Star Category Distributor’. The invited guests released Pradip- a souvenir published on the life and works of Pradip Das.

Addressing the function, prominent RSS activist Shankar Das recalled his close association with Pradip Das who played a key role in strengthening the organizatiol activities of the BJP in undivided Darrang district without caring for the prevailing adverse situation of that time. Terming Pradip Das as a person with non-compromising attitude and self-esteem, Shankar Das appealed to all to follow the work culture shown by Pradip Das. Mangaldai legislator Guru Jyoti Das in his speech assured to dedicate a sports ground in the me of Pradip Das in Mangaldai as a mark of respect to the departed soul. BJP spokesperson Bijon Mahajan and youth activist Ranjiv Sarma recalled the contribution of Pradip Das in creating a strong base of BJP in Darrang district at a critical period when the number of supporters or activists of the BJP was very limited in the district. Earlier, in the well organized function anchored by media person Bhargab Kumar Das, singer of repute Pranjal Sarma performed a Ghosha  to mark the beginning of the function.
