Tribute paid to Netaji on 119th birth anniversary

DEMOW, January 23:  The 119th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was observed on Saturday at Demow in front of the State Bank of India (SBI) Demow Branch with a day-long programme.

On the occasion the flag of All Assam Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation (AABYCF) was hoisted by Tapas ndi, president of Demow Regiol Committee, and after that the organizing committee flag was hoisted by Krish Ghosh, secretary of Demow Regiol Committee.

Swahid tarpan was offered by Aurobinda Dey, joint secretary of organizing committee. Tributes were paid before the portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by Rajendra Singh, member of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Demow Regiol Committee. After that Dr Kalpa Deka, doctor of Sivasagar Civil Hospital was felicitated by the organizing committee. In her speech she appealed to people to dote blood.

A blood dotion camp was held.  Sushanta Borgohain, MLA of Thowra Constituency as well as Parliamentary Secretary of Home Department, was present in the programme and doted blood.

A drawing competition was organized among two groups from Class 1 to Class 5 and Class 6 to Class 8 where children of the area participated. The cultural procession was flagged off by Rabindra Ghosh, assistant secretary of All Assam Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation (AABYCF) central committee. A general meeting was organized where Anil Kumar Dey,  former Principal of Demow Higher Secondary School and Gha Kanta Gogoi, Principal of Demow Higher Secondary School were present.  The meeting was presided over by Anil Kumar Dey, former Principal of Demow Higher Secondary School. They gave their valuable speech and distributed the prizes among the winners of the drawing competition. In the evening, in the memory of Azad Hind Fauj, 100 candles were lit by the members of the organization.
