Tribute paid to Tagore, zrul Islam with commemoration evening

Haflong, June 5: To pay homage to Guru Rabindrath Tagore and Bidrohi Kabi Kazi zrul Islam, the Sammelani Sanskritik Sangstha and Dima Hasao Sahitya Sanskriti Parishad, Haflong organized a commemoration evening at the Cultural Institute Hall on Sunday. The programme started with offering of floral tribute at the beautifully decorated portrait of  Kabi Guru Rabindrath Tagore and Bidrohi Kabi Kazi zrul Islam by the chief guest Ranjit Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner, special guests Bahim Ch Langthasa, former president of Jadikhe isho Hosom, Captain Sailesh Yadav and the members of Sammelani Sanskritik Sangstha and Dima Hasao Sabitya Sanskriti Parishad.

This was followed by a spectacular performance by more than 150 participants from different music schools and institutions like  Sursanga Sangeet Mahavidyalay, Geeti Malancha Art and  Music College, Chitrangoda Music College and Sarupanda Sangeet Vidyalaya which enthralled the audience.

Earlier, Sammelani Sanskritik Sangstha and Dima Hasao Sahitya Sanskriti Parishad also felicitated some prominent persolities in the field of music, literature and culture of Dima Hasao like Sibani Bhattacharjee, Manjusree Dey, Ashok Chakraborty and Pradip Haflongbar with mementos and citation.

The chief guest Ranjit Hazarika, while appreciating the efforts of organizers said to maintain brotherhood, peace and integrity, said that such type of events which help to exchange our culture and literature should be encouraged.
