Tribute paid to the Bard

DEMOW/MRUP, Nov 6: Under the patroge of Demow Press Club  and with the help of the people, the sixth death anniversary of Dr.Bhupen Hazarika was observed in Demow Public Field on Sunday with a day-long programme.

In the morning, the drawing and essay-writing competitions were organized in Demow Public Field. The students of different schools took part in both the competitions. In evening, lamps were lit and garlands were offered in front of the portrait of Dr Bhupen Hazarika. Around 2,001 earthen lamps were lit in Demow Public Playground.  A documentary prepared by Demow Press Club on the legend’s life was also screened. The cultural programme was held in the evening where school students sang songs of Dr Bhupen Hazarika and also danced to his songs.

mrup witnessed the offering of rich tribute to Dr Bhupen Hazarika on his 6th death anniversary by several socio-cultural organizations of mrup on Sunday. Swargam Kala Niketan undertook various programmes, including shradhanjali tarpan, garlanding the portrait of legendary music icon Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika, plantation drive and Bhupendra Sangeet to mark the occasion.
