Tribute paid to victims of Kokrajhar mayhem, Bamungaon killings

MARGHERITA, August 18: Assam Bihari garik Bikash Manch, Margherita, on Wednesday at Margherita Bazaar, gave tribute to the 14 persons who were killed at Balijan Tiniali in Kokrajhar and the two Hindi-speaking persons who were killed on August 12 at Bamungaon Doomdooma under Philobari Police Station.

The tribute programme began with the lighting of candles by the people present. Dr Om Prakash Sahu, president of Assam Bihari garik Bikash Manch, Margherita, said that those who killed innocent people like farmers, workers, women and children were cowards and inhuman and they were the worst enemies of the tion.

“Hindi-speaking people of Assam have always been an integral part of the greater Assamese society where they have contributed a lot for the development of Assam in every sphere and the killing of Hindi-speaking people of Assam is not new.  Before during the rule of the Tarun Gogoi government many Hindi-speaking people were brutally killed and now the Sarbanda Sonowal government is also following the same tactics of killing innocent Hindi-speaking people,” alleged said Dr Sahu.

Ram Hriday Sah, general secretary of Assam Bihari garik Bikash Manch, Margherita, said that if the Assam Government could not give security to Hindi-speaking people of Assam then they would be compelled to take up arms and fight the anti-social elements.

Other leaders of Assam Bihari garik Bikash Manch, Margherita such as Ram Jatan Prasad, Kameswar Sah, Ayub Khan, Suresh Sah, Shambu Sah (Master), Mizimil Khan and Illias Ahmed were present at the tribute programme.
