Tributes paid to cultural icon on Silpi Divas at Doomdooma

Doomdooma, Jan 19: Silpi Divas was observed by Asam Jatiyayabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP)’s Rupai branch and its women wing, Jatiya Mahila Parishad (JMP), Doomdooma Anchalik Committee here with a day-long programme. The programme started with the hoisting of flag by Homen Moran, president of AJYCP’s Rupai Branch which was followed by ‘Smriti Tarpan’ by Juri Bhuyan and Binita Kalita, president and general secretary respectively of JMP, Doomdooma Anchalik Samity, Bijoy Tasa, general secretary, AJYCP, Rupai Sakha Samity.

Anuj Kalita, president, Tinsukia District Jourlists Association (TDJA), garlanded the portrait of Jyoti Prasad. Competitions on Jyoti Sangeet, creative dance and art were held among school children. In the evening lighting of lamps program were initiated by Anjumoni Hazarika, general secretary, JMP, Tinsukia District Committee which was followed by felicitation of the artistes and prize distribution meeting. The meeting was presided over by Surajit Moran, president, AJYCP, Tinsukia District Committee.

Jourlist Dhiren Deka, addressed the gathering at the beginning of the programme. As many as 40 artistes were felicitated on the occasion. Silpi Divas was also observed jointly by Doomdooma Town Committee and Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha.
