Tributes paid to Hiruda

MANGALDAI, July 7: People from all corners of the society paid glorious tribute to Hiren Bhattacharya, eminent poet and lyricist popularly known as Hiru da on his third death anniversary.  On this occasion a public function has been organized by Spondon- a local non-government literary and cultural youth body at the meeting hall of Darrang Zilla Sahitya Sabha here recently.

The day-long program began with the garlanding on the portrait of Hiru da and lighting the lamp before it which was formally initiated by Kunja Devi, a senior literary activist and a teacher in presence of a good number of both young and senior followers of the distinguished poet. This was followed by recitation by invited young promising poets of the State, including Jayjit Deka, Prashanta Rabha, Angan Jyoti Hazarika and Jintu Gohain.

In addition to the invited poets, poets such as Kunja Devi , Saswati Sarma, Barada Saikia, Mira Dutta Choudhury, Pankhi Kajal Kayastha, ya Goswami, Dwipendra rayan Konwar, Ramen Raj  gave recitation to pay their homage to the departed soul of Hiren Bhattacharya who was very popular among the common people for his strong inclition towards humanities as well as pro-people attitude.

The function, anchored by young poet and college teacher Pramika Sarma, was added more flavor by some popular songs of Hiru da which were sung by a couple of young singers including Tutu Hazarika and Antarikhsa Kalita. The function was iugurated by Jibendra Mohan Deba Sarma, a prominent artiste who had the privilege of composing and singing many songs of the poet and lyricist. It was also addressed among others by jourlist Mayukh Goswami and president of Spondon,  Madhurjya Mayur Saikia.
