Tributes paid to Patel on birth anniversary

DIBRUGARH, Nov 2: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the Post Graduate Students Union of Dibrugarh University (DU), organized a function here at the Indira Miri conference hall on Monday.

The Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Jiten Hazarika presided over the function which was attended by Professor of History Department of DU, Chandan Sarma, who in his speech dwelt upon the critical role played by Sardar Patel in emergence of independent India and fulfilled the long desired tiol dreams of the Indian people which involved the huge task of organising an Independent tion.

He also spoke at length on the significance of celebrating the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India as the tiol Unity Day.

Sarma in his deliberation further stated how Sardar Vallabhai Patel with his astute statesmanship, vision and wisdom, succeeded in bringing together the princely states of the country as integral part of India.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor of DU, Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain in his iugural address stated how Sardar Vallabhai Patel ‘s pragmatic approach and perfect statecraft helped in the smooth transition of India from the British Rule to an Independent India.  

Prof Buragohain also paid his rich tributes to the Iron Man of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Jiten Hazarika said that the relevance of Sardar Patel shall always be there in our country.
