Triple murder shocks Bongaigaon

Man kills his son, daughter and elder sister in a fit of rage

Bongaigaon, Jan 31:  The cold-blooded murder of two children by their father has shaken Bongiagon. This incident took place in Ghondol area under Bongaigaon PS in Bongaigaon district. Bhupen Ray (40) allegedly murdered his son, daughter and his sister with a sharp weapon on Monday night.

A villager said that they heard shouts from Bhupen’s house at about 9.30 pm on Monday. “We rushed to the house and found Bhupen almost mad in anger. He had killed his son Rajdeep Ray (6) and daughter Susmita Ray (3) and his elder sister Kamini Ray (60) with a sharp weapon in the house. We came to know that he had also tried to kill his wife Anita Ray but she somehow maged to escape from there in a seriously wounded condition. Some people tried to grab Bhupen and bring him under control but he attacked them also. Sefali Ray, Dineswari Ray and few others were injured. We informed the police and filly the police apprehended him,” the villager said.

Hridayjit Barman, Superintendent of Police of Bongaigaon, said that police were compelled to fire rubber bullet to apprehend Bhupen. “At first when our police team tried to b him, he attacked the police team also. But after firing rubber bullet, he became afraid and then we bbed him. The reason behind this murder is yet to be known. We came to know that he had some family problems but yet nothing can be said. We have produced him in court and started investigation. Everything will be clear after investigation,” he said.

Bhupen was a tempo driver by profession. Few villagers alleged that his wife Anita Ray had an illicit relationship with another man and that could be the reason for the murder. Some other villagers also alleged that Bhupen was suffering from mental problem and was undergoing treatment for it.
