Pijush Kanti Biswas, President of the Bar Council of Tripura said the verification process was undertaken as per instruction of the Bar Council of India which had set non-appearance in any court continuously for five years as criteria for declaring an advocate as non-practicing. The Bar Council of India also instructed all the state bar councils to verify the certificates of all the advocates following allegations that a large number of advocates are there in our judicial system who got affiliation from the bar councils submitting fake certificates.
