Tripura: Centre Sanctions Funds for Facelift of Three National Highways

Guwahati: The three National Highways of Tripura, i.e the Manu to Singlongbari, Kailashahar to Teliamura via Kamalapur and Khowai and Agartala Sabroom will soon get a facelift as Centre has sanctioned funds for carrying out developmental works in these three highways in the state. This was informed by Chief Minister Biplab Deb while speaking at a programme of State Engineer’s Association Tripura (SEAT) to mark its golden jubilee celebration year in Agartala on Saturday.

The Chief Minister also said an outlay of Rs 850 crore has been allocated for the development of three road works in advance so that works don’t get stalled.

Deb while stating that "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been trying to make Northeast like Astha Laxmi and releasing of fund advance was the part of his dream", stressed that his government has been making all out efforts to make the State a model state by 2022.

He further said that a plan has been chalked out to build two 15-storied buildings in the city to accommodate government offices and business hub. He also said that the State Government is also working hard on five missions – flourishing agriculture, arrest of crime against women, putting an end to mafia raj and addiction free society.

The Chief Minister said engineers are also part of the government and they must perform their duties and responsibilities perfectly to yield better results. "The state has a lot of engineers and people don’t recognize them after their retirement. Make a mark while performing duty and then only people will remember you", he pointed out.

While SEAT general secretary Biswajit Debbarma, spoke on the occasion held at Town Hall, the organizing secretary of SEAT Bulbul Chandra Das delivered the welcome address.

Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura Jishnu Dev Varma was also present on the occasion present along with other distinguished guests.

A cheque of Rs. 50,000 was handed over to the Chief Minister for the Chief Minister's relief fund by the SEAT.
