Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb Delivers His First Independence Day Speech

Delivering his first Independence Day speech as the new Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Deb expressed his commitments towards the citizens of the state at the Assam Rifles ground in Agartala after unfurling the national flag on August 15.

Biplab thanked the people of Tripura for having this confidence in him that after 25 years of Left regime rule, a new government is vested with the responsibilities of the state. He assures the citizens to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of them all.

The chief minister said in his address, “We shall work to ensure efficiency in all government works. We are committed to fulfill hopes and aspirations of 37 lakh people of the state. There is no space for bias in our government’s policies.”

Adding further, the CM said, “A flourished Tripura can be achieved through close coordination of all responsible citizens, neighbouring countries and the Government of India.” Putting more stress on coordination among Tripura, the government of India and neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, he said that such coordination will work towards the overall development of the state.

Since his first joining in the Chief Minister’s office on March 9, the BJP-IPFT government has spent only five months in power. In this span of tenure, the new government has started working on tasks like accountability in government employment, granting dignity to women and cracking down on drug peddlers along with a host of other sectors.

Biplab made a congratulatory remark addressing the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the centre as well. Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his assistance in developing the northeast region during last four years, Biplab said, “Prime Minister Modi is working to introduce New India by 2022. Much development was introduced for ‘Ashtalaxmi’ (eight states) of the northeast. There were a lot of development work in the last four years. We shall work in the same ‘disha’ (direction) as well.”

Counting the developments that Tripura has undergone in terms of road and rail connectivity along with other infrastructure-related projects, the Tripura CM expressed his gratefulness towards the Prime Minister.
