Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb Seeks Support of Ex-Servicemen In Social Sector

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has appealed to the ex-serviceman to infuse a sense of discipline, inherent among the armed personnel, in all sections of the society. He was addressing the 28th meeting of the Rajya Sainik Board held in the conference hall of the State Secretariat.

The Chief Minister expressed grave concern over the spread of diseases like malaria in large areas of the State, most of which can be eradicated with proper awareness. In this regard, he sought the services of the ex-serviceman to educate the masses on how to prevent the spread of malaria. He expressed grave concern over the growing trend of drug abuse especially among the younger generation and it is another field where our former armed personnel can contribute significantly, he said.

Deb described elaborately about the steps taken by the government to prevent abuse of drugs, especially in the Janajati inhabited areas and urged the ex-serviceman to associate themselves in these activities for greater benefit of the society. He also stressed upon opening of Sainik Schools in different parts of the State.

JP Tiwery, director of the Ex-serviceman Welfare Department participated in the discussion and highlighted the immediate steps needed for the betterment of the ex-serviceman. The proposal for opening a branch office of the Army Recruitment Board and arranging of per-recruitment training for the physically fit candidates was also discussed in the meeting.
