Tripura CM calls for skill development

Agartala, April 8:  With the aim of enhancing employment opportunities in the State, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has laid stress on the need for skill development among the unemployed youth.

The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering during the iuguration of a skill development training centre under Prime Minister Kaushal Vikash Yoja.

“It’s not possible for any government to provide employment to all.  We can solve the unemployment problem among both the educated and uneducated youth of the State through skill development programmes. We need to arm ourselves with information and skill training,” said the Chief Minister.

54 per cent of the State’s total population is youth and if they are properly trained through skill development, then Tripura will become one of the developed States in the Northeast with skilled and empowered youth force, Deb said.

He said the State has more than 300 brick kilns where the labourers are hired from States like Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. “If properly trained, our own people can engage in such works rather than giving opportunities to the outsiders,” he said.

He also said that the industrialists would be keen to set up industries in the State only if the State has skilled labourers.
