Tripura CM orders delivery of flagship allowances at home

AGARTALA, Sept 21: Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has issued instruction to deliver allowances at home to all aged and disable beneficiaries of various social security schemes.

He was addressing a meeting to review the progress and implementation of various social security schemes including MGNREGA and housing schemes maged by the Social Welfare department and Rural  Development department.

“Many of the beneficiaries drawing allowance under various social security schemes are uble to go to bank and it is our responsibility to ensure that they get their allowances sitting at home,” he said.

Detailing the scheme secretary to the department of Social Welfare Chaitanyamurty said. “Beneficiaries above 80-years of age who are uble to draw their allowance physically presenting themselves in the banks will come under this scheme.”

“Beneficiaries below 80 years of age who are suffering from serious ailment and uble to go to the bank will also come under this service,” he added.

Chief Minister instructed all the Block Development Officers and Child Development officers to select the mes of the aged and disable beneficiaries and to send the list to the department so that the scheme can be implemented as early as possible.

He also asked all the district magistrates to supervise that all the beneficiaries get their allowance on time. The Chief Minister further asked the departmental secretaries and the directors to have monthly VDO conference  with the concerned officials.

Sarkar said barring three central schemes there is no quota for any of the schemes and asked  the officials to ensure that everybody fulfilling the requisite condition can get the allowance.
