Tripura CM suspends 3 officials

From a correspondent

Agartala, March 13:  Sending a tough message to the administration on his style of functioning, Chief Minister Biplab Deb ordered suspension of three officials, including a Tripura Civil Service officer, during his first visit to Gandachera subdivision of Dhalai district on Tuesday.  The Chief Minister visited Gandachera, one of the most remote and backward hilly subdivisions of the State, and had a review meeting with the officials on the progress of the development projects.  He also wanted to know if the officials were facing any difficulties while implementing the projects, and immediately asked the senior officials to take necessary steps to solve those problems.

After the review meeting the Chief Minister visited the Bhagirathpara ADC village. He was displeased to witness the poor living conditions of the people of the remote areas of the village, and instructed District Magistrate Bikash Singh, who was accompanying Deb, to take immediate action to improve the living condition of the people as well as to work for the development of the village.  As per the Chief Minister’s instruction, three officials mely Block Development Officer Pradip Debbarma, the local CDPO and the secretary of the village committee were suspended due to the negligence of their duty.  An official said that the Chief Minister was enquiring about the basic amenities available for the public wherever he was visiting. This left the officials in an ‘uneasy situation’ as they were not at all prepared to reply the Chief Minister’s queries.
