Tripura CM underlines special role for cops

AGARTALA, Aug 2:  Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has underlined a special role for police personnel apart from their regular duty of maintaining law and order.

“Ensuring peace is your primary duty but the society expecting much more from you,” Sarkar told a new batch of sub-inspectors who have successfully completed their training from KTD Singh Police Academy here.

He said there are other departments who are responsible for implementation of various development projects but your task is to ensure that no unwanted element or force can hinder the process.

He advised them to be brave and to perform their duty with honesty and sincerity and to apply their intelligence while dealing with difficult situations. Using force is not the last resort in every situation.

He told the newly recruited sub-inspectors to be sensitive regarding women issues and to take a proactive role to prevent crimes against women which is becoming a major problem everywhere.

This was the second batch passed out of the academy which includes 69 sub-inspectors of which 22 are female.

 The Chief Minister also awarded four cadet sub-inspectors for their outstanding performance in indoor and outdoor activities during their training period.
