Tripura ex-TMC MLAs to meet Kovind

Agartala, July 5 : The six former Trimool Congress MLA’s has decided to vote in favor of Ramth Kovind, the tiol Democratic Alliance candidate for presidential election scheduled to be held on July 17.

They have also decided to go to Guwahati on Thursday to meet the tiol Democratic Alliance presidential candidate.

The decision was taken in a meeting in the Trimool Congress Bhawan here on Wednesday where the MLA’s and a large number of followers were present. The MLA’s decided to resign from Trimool Congress and a fil decision about their future course of action will be taken after the presidential election gets over.

The leader of the group, Sudip Roy Barman, said that their main target was to oust Left Front from the power and for that they were ready to align with anyone.  

The group is keeping close contact with senior BJP leader and fince minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sharma for quite a long time and decided not to vote the opposition sponsored candidate Meira Kumar after the BJP general secretary Ram Madhab asked them on last Saturday to support the NDA candidate.

Biplab Deb, BJP state president welcomed the decision of the six MLA’s to vote for Ramth Kovind and said it would strengthen the NDA.
