Silchar, Jan 18: My Home India, a socio cultural organization, is going to organize a musical and cultural event titled ‘Tripura Fest’ at Banga Bhawan, Silchar, on January 20. The event will be graced by the presence of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma as chief guest on the occasion. The cultural programmes will comprise items related to Hozagiri, Cheraw, Dhamil, Mami and Bihu. Sourabhee Debbarma, winner of the celebrated musical show Indian Idol, will perform on the occasion. This information was shared at a press-meet held at Giri Bhawan, Silchar on Thursday. Prasenjit Roy Choudhury, cultural secretary of the festival said, “Tripura fest in an event of importance as it will bring people closer to the rich culture, tradition and heritage of Tripura.”
“Rajib Bhattacharjee, general secretary, BJP Tripura, will address the event as the guest speaker and a special lecture will be delivered by Sunil Deodhar, founder of My Home India. The programme will start from 2 pm,” Prasenjit Roy Choudhury added to say. Other guests of honour include MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly, former minister Kabindra Purkayastha, PWD minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Assam Pradesh BJP spokesperson Dr Rajdeep Roy, MLAs Kishore th, Mihir Kanti Shome, Aminul Haque, Amarchand Jain and Krishnendu Pal. The convenor and co-convenor of this mega event are Roel Darlong and Tri Rat Chakma respectively.
