Tripura government enlarges scope for E-payment of tax and non-tax revenues

Agartala, April 7 : In a bid to symplify the procedure for receipts of tax and non-tax revenues, the Tripura government has deided to enlarge the scope for E-payment system. At present people can make payment of tax and non-tax revenue only through treasury linked bank

branches. In addition to this the government has decided to receive E-payment of tax and non-tax revenue through net banking, debit card, credit card, RTGS, NEFT etc too. M garaju, principal secretary to the fince department has issued a notification in this regard. It said intermediaries would include banks that collect monies received from citizens for payment to government using any electronic/online payment mode and subsequently facilitate the transfer of these monies to the government account maintained with Reserve Bank of India.

The cyber treasury located at civil secretariat in Agartala will be single point Treasury for such receipts from banks in electronic mode, it further said. The notifacation told all the government departments to sign memorendum of understanding with banks to facilitate receive of tax and non-tax revenue. However, while selecting bank, it said, only those banks can be considered whose cradit  deposit ratio is higher than the state average of the year 2016-17. The notification instructed the departments to submit the MOU to the fince department for concurrence.
