AGARTALA, Aug 8 : Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister Rita Bahugu Joshi lauded the role played by the first Chief Minister of Tripura Sachindra Lal Singha in the liberation war of Bangladesh and said he must have a place in the history of the country.
Rita Bahugu’s father, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Hemabati ndan Bahugu, was contemporary to Sachindra Lal Singha. She also urged all concerned to take appropriate steps so that the younger generation can know about the contributions of Sachindra Lal Singha.

Leaders cutting across party line including the deputy speaker of Tripura assembly Pabitra Kar and Trimoolm Congress leader from West Bengal Sabyachi Datta attended the programme.
