Trouble brewing in BPF

1,000 BPF members to join BJP

KALAIGAON, March 3: Kartik Chandra Baro, a senior leader of Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) is going to quit party and join the BJP along with 1,000 party members of Harishinga block BPF.

The BPF party received a blow after declaring Tridip Daimari as its candidate from Harishinga Territorial Constituency for the upcoming BTC polls. Most of the BPF primary members had decided to quit BPF as a mark of protest against this decision. Kartik Ch. Baro told media persons that 1,000 members of Harishinga block BPF would join the BJP on March 8.

He said that he won the Harishinga seat twice, but the party high command nomited a new candidate instead of him. On the other hand, Gupindan Basumatari, a BPF leader said that most party members have refused to accept the candidature of Tridip Daimari from Harishinga Territorial Constituency. Now all the supporters of Kartik Chandra Baro have decided to quit BPF in protest against the decision.
