Truck carrying illegal liquor seized

TINSUKIA, Nov 5: In a joint drive against illegal liquor business, a team of police personnel from Jagun and Lekhapani police stations under Margherita subdivision, along with Assam Excise Department, conducted a ka checking in front of police station and intercepted one truck bearing registration no. AS 23/BC - 1897 which was carrying 565 cases of canned beer and 235 cases of IMFL from msai warehouse to Changlang without authentic documents on Saturday. The Excise Department seized the beer and IMFL and lodged an FIR at Lekhapani PS which was registered under case no. 100/17 u/s 120(B)/420/468 IPC r/w sec 53(1)(a) of AE Act.  The driver of the vehicle, Bankelal Yadav (58) of Jaypur under Jaypur PS in Dibrugarh district, has been arrested.
