Trucks carrying illegal liquor seized

Golaghat, April 2: The Golaghat Police on Saturday night seized illegal liquor worth lakhs of rupees, along with five liquor-laden trucks and 10 persons at NH-39 near Purabangla of Golaghat under NRL police outpost.  Additiol Superintendent of Police Dhruba Bora said that in a police checking at NH-39 near Puravangla area, a 12-wheeler truck,  three 10-wheeler trucks and a six-wheeler truck were caught for illegally carrying liquor from Itagar of Aruchal to Dimapur of galand. The registration number of the trucks are AS 01 DD 9128,  AS 01 GC 5127,  AS 12E 6917,  AS 17 9013 and AS GC 8519. 
 At first the drivers showed challan and said that they were carrying rice and sugar in the trucks. But after inspection it came to light that the trucks had to transport the liquor from  Itagar to Roying of Aruchal Pradesh. Golaghat Police arrested five persons, who are allegedly activists of AATTSA, for taking five liquor cartons forcibly from the trucks, as alleged by the truck drivers. The activists are Prabin Tanti,  Ilias Tirkey,  Fransis Kerketa, Dipak Haro and Ranjit Bhumij, all residents of Bokajan.  They are allegedly involved in illegal liquor transportation.
