Trucks collide head on at Madanpur, 12 injured

Baihata Chariali, March 14: At least 12 persons were seriously injured in a road accident that occured at Madanpur under Changsari Police Station on Friday night. According to sources, the accident took place at NH-31when a truck (AS-16-64-31) bound to Guwahati from Baihati Chariali, collided head-on with another truck, (AS 01 CC 25 35), coming from the opposite direction. In the accident, a small gas cylinder exploded, for which a fire broke out that heavily damaged the two vehicles. Twelve people were injured in the fire. Some of them injured have been identified as Fazal Haque, Rafiqul Islam, Omar Ali, and Habizur Rahman. According to the local people, the accident occurred because of the faults in the construction of the four-lane highway. On the other hand, local people blocked the tiol highway on Saturday demanding repair of the road to prevent such accidents in the future.
