‘Trump’s remark against one-Chi policy not clever’

Paris, Dec 14: US President-elect Dold Trump’s remarks questioning the one-Chi policy principle “is not clever”, French Foreign Minister Jean Marc Ayrault said on Wednesday. He also called the upcoming Trump Administration “to avoid things spiralling out of control”.

“When Chi feels questioned on its unity, that’s not exactly very clever,” Ayrault was quoted by Xinhua news agency. “Chi is a big country. We can have our differences with Chi, but you don’t talk to a partner like that.”

“I hope that the new team will have learnt enough so that we mage an uncertain world with more sangfroid and responsibility,” the French top diplomat added. On “Fox News Sunday” programme, Trump said that he does not feel “bound by a one-Chi policy unless we make a deal with Chi having to do with other things, including trade.” The ippropriate rhetoric came just days after Trump held a phone call with Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen, breaking decades of US diplomatic policy.
