TU observes 25th foundation day

Tezpur, Jan 21: Amidst ecstatic fervour and enthusiasm, Tezpur University on Sunday observed its 25th foundation day and iugurated the year-long silver jubilee celebration. The event started with hoisting of the university flag by the Vice-Chancellor of Tezpur University, Prof. Madan M Sarma, in the presence of other dignitaries and guests. Later, delivering the welcome address, Prof. Sarma, drew references from the reminiscent past highlighting the institution’s and students’ achievements over the years. He further insisted that although the university had achieved much, there was need for improvement.

Iugurating the silver jubilee celebration, Prof. Kishori Mohan Pathak, founder Vice-Chancellor of the university, thanked all the contributors who had assisted in all-round development of the university. He went on to discuss the achievements of the university and appealed to the present staff and faculty to work hard to achieve greater heights. He reiterated that excellence needed constant refinement.  

 Delivering the silver jubilee oration, Prof. Amarjyoti Choudhury, former Vice-Chancellor, Gauhati University, rrated the tale of Tezpur University, which was a detailed history of the 24 glorious years of existence of the university. He emphasized the evolution of the present work culture of the university whose foundation was laid by Prof. KM Pathak who had conceived the idea of a digital university and worked tirelessly to translate the dream into action.

 Utpal Bora, CMD, OIL, chief guest of the occasion released the silver jubilee celebration calendar. A host of activities will be organized throughout the year.  While delivering the foundation day oration, he appreciated the clean and green TU campus. He emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaboration and mentioned that in line with the Government  of India’s start-up programme, OIL was also running a start-up programme to encourage the entrepreneurs and requested the students to opt for the scheme. Prof. Choudhury and Bora later gave away appreciation certificates to the faculty members and students for excelling in their respective fields. The event concluded with vote of thanks and iuguration of the photo gallery which exhibited the journey of Tezpur University.
