TU organizes health camp for forest guards of ONP

Tezpur, Jan 3: Tezpur University organized a one-day health camp at the Rajiv Gandhi Orang tiol Park on Wednesday. Dr. Ramesh Menon, Medical Officer of the University, Dr. Biren Das, Registrar, Dr. Sadhan Mahapatra of Department of Energy and Ramesh Chandra Gogoi, Divisiol Forest Officer, Mangaldai Wildlife Division, were part of the health camp. Three students of Masters in Tourism Magement Programme of Tezpur University also participated in the programme.

 The camp was aimed at addressing the health issues of the forest guards as well as preparing themselves for dealing with common health issues, which they are prone to. The forest guards were also apprised of basic do’s and don’ts in facing the health challenges of working in such remote and forest environment. The team provided valuable counselling to the forest guards, provided medicines and tried to understand the challenging situation which the guards face on day-to-day basis. A total of 78 forest guards took part in the camp. Baptist Christian Hospital, Tezpur also provided its support by deputing two nurses in the camp.
