'TU to be among topmost universities of the world'

Tezpur, June 7: Tezpur University would be one of the topmost universities of the world in the near future for which it was assured all support from the ministry, said Dr Mahendra th Pandey, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, while interacting with faculty and students of the university in the conference hall on Tuesday. Visiting the university to take stock of the major facilities of the university and other activities carried out by the students, including research scholars and faculty members of the university, Dr Pandey further added that the outreach programmes of the university would go a long way as examples of meaningful contribution of educatiol institutions towards the development of the country. He also appreciated the university’s exemplary initiatives in keeping the campus green and clean.

The minister particularly mentioned the tiol and intertiol recognitions such as the Best University Award 2016 of the Visitor President of India and the 34th Rank in the Times Higher Education World Young University Ranking 2017 and also expressed satisfaction over the holistic approach of the university in the development of students, particularly in inculcating a sense of responsibility in them towards the society at large, he added.

The Registrar of the University apprised the minister of the acute shortage of fund received by the university and placed a request before him for an additiol grant of at least Rs 55 crore for creating initially two hostels, one each for boys and girls, to which the Minister assured that he would direct the UGC for consideration.
