Tuki briefs Sonia Gandhi on Aruchal situation

Itagar, May 28: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister bam Tuki along with PCC President Padi Richo and Minister Chow Mein called on Congress President Sonia Gandhi at New Delhi on Wednesday. They apprised the Congress President on several political and developmental activities related to the state, an official release said here today. The Congress President while appreciating the development activities undertaken by the state government urged the Chief Minister to continue the pro people policies in the state. She congratulated the PCC President for successfully organizing the State Level Mahila Convention and the Intertiol Labour Day functions at Itagar recently. The President advised to strengthen the Party at the grassroots by working unitedly and undertaking membership drives at all levels. Richo while apprising about recent political developments in the State sought her permission to enforce strict discipliry measures against those working against the interests of the Party and Government to which the Congress President agreed. She advised the delegation to strengthen the frontal wings especially the members of the Youth Congress and Seva Dal and to train them to participate in relief and restoration activities in the monsoon season. Earlier in the day, Tuki along with Richo and Advocate General Ranji Thomas paid tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru at his memorial Shanti Van on his 51st Death Anniversary. In the prayer meeting held at Shanti Van, President of India Prab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh also paid their tributes to the first Prime Minister of India, the release added.
