Tuki reviews disaster preparedness

Itagar, Aug 27: Concerned over continuous downpour for last couple of days in the state due to South West monsoon, Chief Minister bam Tuki today reviewed the disaster preparedness with the officers of disaster magement department here. Secretary Disaster Magement Khapa Kholie and Director DM Yeshi Wangmu Ringu were present during the meeting, an official communiqué informed. Directions were issued to the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and the Head of Department (HODs) to be extra vigilant and provide immediate relief assistance to the victims. Reports on the damages caused by tural calamities have to be assessed by the DCs/ HODs and forwarded by the respective DCs. They were also directed to be proactive in the preparedness and response measures so that there is no loss of any human lives and minimal damages in case of any eventuality. Funds are being placed to the DCs/ ADCs. The chief minister also called upon all the denizens to remain alert and cooperate with the administration so that there is no loss of life and property due to flood/flash flood/ mudslide/ landslide etc. Tuki also wrote to the Union Minister of Home in detail about the damages suffered by the state and sought for relief assistance, the communiqué added.
