TUR criticizes Mahila Congress’ remark

FROM A REPORTER

SHILLONG, Feb 2: The Thma U Rangli Juki (TUR) condemned the sexist and unprincipled statements of the Meghalaya Mahila Congress - the women’s wing of the ruling congress party in support of HDR Lyngdoh who refuses to step down as Home Minister. According to TUR, Marvelene Inn, a guest house, owned and run by Lyngdoh’s immediate family has been a habitual ‘den of vice’ in the recent case of trafficking of a 14 year old girl. “At least 4 people who have been arrested till date have used this guest house to sexually abuse this minor. In spite of this serious culpable offence by the owners and magement of this guest house, the magement and owners are treated with Kidgloves just because they are HDR’s near and dear ones,” TUR said in a statement released here on Thursday. TUR along with citizens of Meghalaya would be intensifying its campaign for the removal of HDR Lyngdoh as the Home Minister.
