DIBRUGARH, January 6: A ture camp was organized recently by Aaranyak and Irab Kirab with the cooperation of Wildlife Conservation and Study Centre of harkatia, Evergreen Foundation of Soraipung, Jiwa Surakhya of Guwahati and Chief Forest Conservator (Wildlife), Guwahati, DFO and wildlife warden of Dehing Patkai Sanctuary at Soraipung range.

ture lovers, 32 of them, from Digboi, Jagun, Jorhat, Sivasagar, harkatia, Bhadoi Panch Ali and Dibrugarh took part in it.

The resource persons on the occasion were former Principal of Margherita College, Hitendrath Sarma, Vice–Principal and the Lecturer of Digboi College, Kedar th Timsi and Rajib Rudra Tariang respectively, Mridupawan Phukan of harkatia, Bimal Gogoi of Bhadoi,

kul Khound and Paim Thi Gohain of Irab Kirab, Ranjita Bania of Jiwa Surakhya, and Sailen Das of Aaranyak. Subhasish Arandhara and Rubul Tanti came in for appreciation for their ability as resource persons at a young age. The Chief Forest Conservator, PR Agarwala, and DFO, Siraj Ahmed, also participated in the camp.

Six members of forest village in Soraipung area served as guides. They shared their experiences and information about the forest. The participants trekked through the range and observed flora and fau.

During the lessons imparted to the participants, the necessity for NGOs to become aware and active considering the growing exploration for oil, digging for coal and exploitation of the water bodies was broached upon. Bimal Gogoi spoke on the legal action that can be taken to prevent destruction of forest.
