Turkish ref Cakir to oversee Champions League fil

Madrid, May 19: Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir has been appointed by European football’s governing body to officiate in the Juventus vs Barcelo Champions League fil, to be played in Berlin on June 6. English referee Martin Atkinson will take charge of the Europa League fil between Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Sevilla, to be held in Warsaw on May 27.

Through his refereeing career, Cakir has officiated 70 European games, four of which were during the 2014-2015 Champions League and three in Europa League, reports Efe.

The 44-year-old Atkinson, who will referee the Europa League fil in the Stadion rodowy in Warsaw, has been an intertiol referee since 2006 and has refereed 67 European games. IANS
