Two arrested for collecting illegal tax

Silchar, Oct 8: 37 Assam Rifles arrested two persons, Lalringum Hmar (18) and Emmanuel Hmar (19), recently as they were involved in collecting illegal tax from the people. They were arrested from Hmarkhawlien. The culprits, Lalringum and Emmanuel, are the resident of Jilampungi, near Labonkhal, under Jirighat PS and Hmarkhawlien respectively. They were handed over Lakhipur PS and produced before the sub divisiol judicial magistrate court, Lakhipur. They were kept in remand for 48 hours. The interrogation was done by SI Bimal Deb of Lakhipur PS.
